
Alan MacEachren
is the E. Willard and Ruby S. Miller Professor at
Penn State University and the Director of the
GeoVista Center. He is an Honorary Fellow of the
International Cartographic Association. MacEachren
has played a central role nationally and
internationally in defining the research agenda for
human-centered geovisualization and in building
cross-disciplinary links to related efforts in
scientific and information visualization and
exploratory data analysis in statistics. He is the
director of the DHS North-East Regional
Visualization and Analytics Center. He is chair of
the International Cartographic Association
Commission on Visualization and Virtual Reality.
MacEachren wrote the important and widely used book,
How Maps Work: Representation, Visualization, and
Design, which has been hailed as mandatory
reading for all those interested in the role of maps
in the new information era. |
